The MMUWEC Web Project

Overview
-------------

The MMUWEC Site ("Website") was designed by Michael Otieno ("Mikeotizels") in 2018 for the love of the club to document various information about the club and to publish the club's news, events and photos. The first prototype, version 1.0 was uploaded online for testing in July 2018 at mmuwec.orgfree.com. The current site is still at mmuwec.orgfree.com and the code base is version 1.2, the successor of version 1.1

The MMUWEC Web Project also includes other applications aimed at computerizing and automating some club operations.

The MMUWEC Web Project is still being developed and maintained by Mikeotizels. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use of MMUWEC sites (mmuwec.orgfree.com and mmuwec.wordpress.com) are similar to those of Mikeotizels Website that can be found at mikeotizels.orgfree.com/privacy/ and mikeotizels.orgfree.com/terms/ respectively. Sometimes, additional policies and/or terms may apply for certain MMUWEC services, and they become part of your aggreement with MMUWEC if you use those services.

Copyright is automatically granted to the entity who creates the work at the time of its cause.

I place a copyright notice at the top of every server side files that I create recognising me as the original author. That copyright notice CAN NOT be removed under any circumstances.

I allow other writers, designers and/or developers who may or may not be MMUWEC members to change the readable contents, graphics and/or the code so long as I am still recognised as one of the authors.

However, I do prohibit the contents from being deployed on additional servers or domains without my permission. Furthermore, the source code cannot be reproduced, distributed and/or published in any way, shape, or form. Doing so is a violation of the copyright laws.


Trademarks
-----------------

Contrarary to popular belief, things like inventions, designs and slogans for a specific company, organization or product do not fall under copyright protection. Instead, they are protected by patents and trademarks.

The abreviation MMUWEC as well as the old MMUWEC logo are the intellectual property of Maasai Mara University Wildlife and Environmental Club founders (October 2013). The new MMUWEC logo is the intellectual property of Kelvin Maina - Nizzy Designs (September 2019).

Where not otherwise indicated, all other contents of the MMUWEC site and apps are trademarks of Maasai Mara University (MMARAU), Michael Otieno (Mikeotizels), MMUWEC members and other entities if any.


License

The MMUWEC Web Project is proprietary work. The source codes for modules developed by Mikeotizels are not available for public review. However, code snippets for the software APIs may be distributed to specific users.

The MMUWEC Web Project includes other packages and modules developed saparetly by Mikeotizels for open source projects. Each of these packages and modules is released under its own license.

The work is not yet complete! You are invited to get involved in The MMUWEC Web Project.
There are several levels of contributing:

  • Writing - Create new content to be published in the MMUWEC blog.
  • Design - Create new graphics and themes for the MMUWEC site.
  • Development - Build plugins, extensions and more to be included in the project.
  • Feedback - Report bugs and other issues or provide helpful ideas.
  • Donation - Support the project.
